Encapsulated CrawlSpaces
What is an Encapsulated Crawlspace?
- An encapsulated crawl space has a vapor barrier that has been installed in a manner so that it is glued/taped at the walls, piers and seams covering 100% of the ground.
- Any existing foundation vents are sealed off from the interior of the crawl space with foam board.
- The insulation is installed in the floor like a traditional crawl space.
- The floor insulation should be a minimum of R-19.
- A dehumidifier is installed to control the humidity.
