What is an Encapsulated Crawlspace?

1. An encapsulated crawl space has a vapor barrier that has been installed in a manner so that it is glued/taped at the walls, piers and seams covering 100% of the ground.
2. Any existing foundation vents are sealed off from the interior of the crawl space with foam board.
3. The insulation is installed in the floor like a traditional crawl space.
4. The floor insulation should be a minimum of R-19.
5. A dehumidifier is installed to control the humidity.
